As seen in Scrapbooking.com Feburary 2009 issue
These wings were made for a collaboration project with a friend who was to make the fairy body out of polymer clay. I was a bit ambitious and the wing span became approx. 18 inches. Needless to say, my friend didn't want to make a fairy THAT big! So here's my interpretation. My winged creature looks like it is trying to escape the frame, hence the name.
Wings are made from Fantasy Film In the Glen and In the Forest. The wire structure is made from Fun Wire. It works great with Fantasy Film. Most fairy artists glue their wire structure to the film, but Fun Wire will iron on temporarily. Then with a thin layer of Fantasy Fiber (I used Briarwood) ironed on the exposed wires you don't have to glue them at all!
Before applying the fiber I melted the shape and holes over a candle flame, very fun! I've also made ones with film on the backside instead of fiber for a different look. You can iron both sides before melting with this method. I always iron every spot on my wings and as close to the wires as possible, even if I'm only using one layer of film, because the heat makes the film change colors.
The findings are from a million different vendors glued on with Designer Dries Clear adhesive. The frame is decorated with Earth Elements #35 Tailings, Fine Vintage Glass Glitter #612 Golden Glow and #611 Antique Silver.

I especially like the way the little spiral findings glued onto the fiber inside the holes look, FUN!
